IRENTE VIEW POINT (4-6 HRS)

A famous view point about 1500 m above the sea level where by you over view the village of Mazinde almost 1000 m below the vast Maasai plains beyond. On the way back visit Irente farm a cheese factory and enjoy a delicious food of the whole meal of brown bread, cheese, juice, seasonal fruits jam and quark.

This tour begins with an up hill walk from Lushoto to the royal village of Kwembago, where you learn about cultural history of the traditional ruling clan, the Kilindi. SAKHARANI WINE TOUR OF SONI

This tour takes half an hour driving from Lushoto to Soni and start walking from Soni through Maweni farm where you experience the botanical garden at the farm and tea plantations to Sakharani where you can buy Sakharani wine and macadamia nuts. On the way back you can stop for waterfall at Soni and the colourfuly market and take a transport back to Lushoto. It can be private transport or public bus

DAY 1:

Arrive Lushoto with public bus in the early afternoon for lunch. Afternoon walk or drive (private vehicle) to Irente viewpoint and Irente Farm. The farmers produce many types of fruits, which are sold in Arusha, Dar, Moshi and Morogoro. Meals and overnight in Lushoto- FB

DAY 2: LUSHOTO - MAGAMBA FOREST 6-7 HRS
Breakfast followed by walking to the Magamba rain forest, visit an old trench dug by the German during World War 1, the guide will provide an explanation of German and British Colonial history. Proceed on walking through the rain forest of Magamba to the village Lukozi then take transport to Rangwi convent for overnight- FB

DAY 3: USAMBARA VILLAGES

Ealy in the morning climb Mzoghoti peak about 2,300m instead of climbing Shaghayu peak due to its location that you can't get good view because is situated inside the forest so on clear day you can see Kilimanjaro and Taita hills across the border to Kenya then back to the Convent for breakfast. After breakfast walk through traditional villages and learn about typical traditional life style of washambaa, forests, pottery women group to Mtae a World view point with spectacular views overlooking Maasai plains, Mkomazi game reserve, Tsavo west in Kenya and also on clear days Kilimanjaro can be seen on the horizon, a good point for sun rise and sunset and overnight in Mambo View-FB

DAY 4: AROUND MTAE:

Walk around Mtae a visit to one of the interesting view points with God’s foot print and the forest. Also learn about traditional life style of Washambaa, traditional ngoma

DAY 5: MTAE – LUSHOTO:

Drive to Magamba village about two hour s then walk to Mkuzu waterfall which situated inside the forest, in the afternoon drive back to Lushoto for overnight-FB


DAY 6: SAKHARAN WINE TOUR:

DAY 1: Into Lushoto

Breakfast, then walk along valleys and sloping hill sides of the inner Usambara Mountain passing by the vegetable farms lined with eucalyptus and banana trees. You will p ass through the villages of Malindi, Makose and Kagulio, proceed to Rangwi Catholic mission for dinner and overnight FB.

DAY 4: USAMBARA VILLAGES

Drive to Magamba village about two hours then walk to Mkuzu waterfall which situated inside the forest, after enjoying the waterfall walk back to Muller’s Lodge for overnight -FB

Leave Lushoto.
