Only 720 mountain gorillas still remain in the rainforests covering the slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes shared by Congo, Rwanda and Rwanda Safari Uganda. Rwanda has the best accessibility to the mountain gorilla habitat.
Tour Itinerary:

Day 1:
Kigali City Tour
Upon your arrival at Kigali Airport an Africa Joy Tours representative will welcome you and transfer you to a pre-arranged hotel. Our tour guide will then take you on a city tour in which you will be able to visit the Genocide Memorial Ground and local handicraft shops. We dine and overnight at the Hotel Novotel Umubano.

Day 2:
Parc National Des Volcans – Gorilla trekking
As early as 6.00am we wake up for an early breakfast and drive north west to Ruhengeri. We transfer to the edge of the Volcano National Park for a briefing from the park ranger before embarking on a gorilla trek in the thick rainforest of the Virunga slopes. We return to the lodge for a late lunch and in the evening you can visit the beautiful twin lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo.
Our dinner and overnight stay is at the Gorillas Nest Lodge (FB)

Day 3:
Gorilla Trekking
In the morning we track another gorilla family and later, after lunch, transfer to Lake Kivu at the lakeshore town of Kibuye. Kivu is a beautiful vast inland fresh water lake enclosed by the steep, lush green terraced hills that are so characteristic of rural Rwanda. On our arrival in the late afternoon we check in at the Kibuye Guest House. The Guest house is a chalet style hotel on the edge of Lake Kivu with a small beach front perfect for swimming into the clear waters of the lake. We dine and overnight here.

Day 4:
Lake Kivu - Kigali
In the morning we enjoy a boat trip on Lake Kivu. Before returning to the lodge for lunch a refreshing swim in the lake may appeal to you. After lunch we drive back to Kigali, approximately a 2hour drive, for your return flight home.
