DAY 1:
Machame Gate (1800m) - Machame Camp (3000m)
At 08:30 we depart from the airport to the Machame Gate with a 4WD vehicle. Here we meet our guide and porters. After registration has taken place we start our hike with a picnic lunch through the rain forest for approximately 4 to 5 hrs. We arrive at the Machame Camp where we dine and stay overnight.
DAY 2:
Machame Camp (3000m) - Shira Camp (3800m)
After breakfast we start climbing through the short savannah forest and other vegetation for approximately 4 to 5hrs. We have our picnic lunch en route before arriving in the afternoon at the Shira Camp where we dine and overnight.
DAY 3:
Shira (3800m) - Barranco Camp (3950m)
After breakfast we embark on a slow walk through a semi glacier and sandy area where we have a picnic lunch. Approximately 3 to 4 hrs later we arrive at the Barranco Camp where we will have our dinner and overnight.
DAY 4:
Barranco Camp (3950m) - Barafu Camp (4600m)
After breakfast we climb through glaciers for approximately 4 to 5 hours having a picnic lunch en route before arriving at the Barafu Camp for dinner and our overnight stay. Barafu Camp (4600m) - Stella Point (5750m) – Uhuru Peak (5895m) above sea level.
DAY 5:
Barafu (4600m) - Uhuru Peak (5895m) - Mweka Camp (3100m)
We have an early wakeup call, around 01:00hrs, to prepare and have a light breakfast before starting our final ascent to the summit i.e. either to Stella Point which could be reached in approximately 5 to 6 hrs or the further ascent to the Uhuru Peak reached in an additional + - 45 minutes. After signing in and a short rest at the Barafu Camp we descend via the Gilman’s Point down to the Mweka Camp for an hour’s rest with a light breakfast. We then descend for dinner and our overnight stay at the Mweka Camp.
DAY 6:
Mweka Camp (3100m) - Mweka Gate
After breakfast, we make our final descent to the Mweka Gate. We say goodbye to our guide/ porters and take a private transfer to Arusha. The afternoon is spent relaxing at our hotel followed later by dinner and our overnight stay.
Day 7:
Arusha to Lake Manyara
Our Tanzanian safari starts at 08:30 as we drive from Arusha to Lake Manyara having a picnic lunch en route. We enter the majestic Lake Manyara Game Park and embark on the first of six Tanzanian safaris. This small park is sandwiched between the Rift Valley escarpment and the large sodiforous Lake Manyara. It is a pretty location with a good range of game, including giraffe, elephant, baboon and the rarely seen tree-climbing lion. We stay overnight at the Migunga Tented Camp.
Day 8:
Manyara - Serengeti
Today we have an early breakfast and depart at 07:30 for the Serengeti. We pass through the Olduvai Gorge, the site where the Leakey family discovered fossils of human and animal ancestors dating back to almost two million years. The Olduvai Gorge is a canyon carved by water through the southern part of the Serengeti Plain and is 50 km long and in some places 90 metres deep. It drains the slopes of the nearby mountains. Meals and our overnight stay is at the Ikoma Bush Tented Camp.
Day 9:
Full day in Serengeti Park
Today we will breakfast early as we leave at 07:00 with a packed lunch for a full day of game drives in the wilderness tracking the great migration trails. Thorough explanation about this great world event that Tanzania is so proud of will be provided and in the evening as the sun goes down, we drive back to the Ikoma Bush Tented Camp for dinner and our stay overnight.
Day 10:
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast we will start with a 08:00 drive to visit the Ngorongoro Crater. After checking in at your luxury camp which is perched high on the crater rim, we will enjoy lunch. There after we will descend the crater walls and spend the afternoon and early evening viewing wildlife on the crater floor. We overnight at the Rhino Lodge or Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge where all meals are provided.
Day 11:
Ngorongoro Crater
Today we start a little earlier at 07:00 with a game drive and later a picnic lunch inside the Ngorongoro Crater. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes and lots of different bird species. Your driver/guide will be in contact with other safari drivers and will amaze you with his skill at locating hidden animals. After exploring the crater we return back to our lodge for our overnight stay and dinner. This will either be at the Rhino Lodge or Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge.
Day 12:
Ngorongoro to Arusha
After a full English breakfast we leave Ngorongoro and drive to the Masai Village for traditional dancing where we learn and discover the Masai culture. We then go to Arusha for dinner and our overnight stay at either the Outpost Lodge or Impala Hotel.
Day 13:
Arusha - Zanzibar
Breakfast is at our hotel. At about 10:45 we leave for the Arusha airstrip for our scheduled flight which departs for Zanzibar at 11:00. We will be met by Africa Joy Tours at the airport and transferred to the Tembo Hotel for dinner and our overnight stay.
Day 14:
Tour in Zanzibar
After breakfast at our hotel we will go on an excursion to the spice farm and embark on a Stone Town tour. Lunch will be en-route and in the late afternoon we return to the Tembo Hotel for dinner and our overnight stay.
Day 15:
Stone Town - East Coast
After breakfast we travel to the East Coast of Zanzibar for relaxation on the white sandy beaches of the Coastal Breezes Beach Club. Dinner and our overnight stay is at the resort.
Day 16:
Departure to airport
Rest and relax at leisure on the white sandy beaches of the coastal resort. In the late afternoon Africa Joy Tours will transport you to the airport for your homebound flight.
